Tamfourhill Marina Study

PDF | Print | E-mail

Tamfourhill Marina StudyHalcrow undertook a detailed site appraisal and outline design masterplan with market assessment and costings for a 100 berth marina at Tamfourhill Falkirk.

The next steps involved promoting the concept through the Falkirk Local Plan process on behalf of British Waterways Scotland. The process is also being influenced by strategic planning of opportunities to promote development sites within the wider Forth and Clyde and Union Canal corridors in Falkirk /West Lothian.

Involved detailed option appraisal and selection of key sites for representation in West Lothian and Falkirk Local Plan reviews.

As well as providing the full range of group skills in the transportation, water, property and consulting sectors, Halcrow in Scotland is recognised as a centre of excellence within the group in the specialist fields of strategic public policy planning, sports events, building façade retention, major long span steel bridges, Ro-Ro terminals and nuclear and seismic engineering.

Site Information

This site has been in existence for more than 10 years and has followed the Falkirk Wheel through all its different phases from an idea on a drawing board to the construction phase and finally to its glorious opening in 2000. The Falkirk Wheel is the focus but there is still more to do to ensure the canal network is truly a 'ribbon of light' once more.
